About the Gretna Band Boosters
All parents are encouraged to take an active part in the Gretna Band Boosters. The Gretna Band Boosters are comprised of Gretna Middle and High School band parents. Working together with the director, we help support the needs of the program. Band parents, friends, and other band supporters make up the membership. Meetings will be announced in advance through email, but are usually the second Thursday of every month at 6:00pm in the GHS Band room. We will be asking for volunteers to assist with fundraising, chaperoning and more throughout the year. There is a place for all of our parents to help support our band. GO HAWKS!!!

Parent / Guardian Information
Drop off times: On time is late. The band must be on the field (or their designated practice space) with their instruments or equipment, ready to go by the time practice starts. Please plan on having your child at the school at least 15 minutes before the start of any practice. Earlier is even better.
Pick up times vary after practice and a lot depends on what your child plays in the band, how quickly they pack up their stuff, and how long it takes to make sure the band room is cleaned up.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
The band has many opportunities for parental involvement. Gretna Band Boosters have a monthly meeting on every first Thursday of the month in the high school Band Room. If this changes an email will be sent out. This is where fundraisers, and other important topics are discussed. Please come and support these great kids! All parents are welcome – not just those with specific titles (such as treasurer, secretary, etc). We also will need parents to be involved in chaperoning competitions, band trips, concerts, helping with sales and in the stands at football games, social events and parades. The band sells popcorn and drinks at all home football games and workers are needed. Every contribution is appreciated!
The following are some (but not all) of the opportunities available to you.
Fundraising: These will pop up every so often so you can choose what works for you and your schedule.
Equipment: Equipment parents help all year with whatever needs to be moved, fixed or built. During marching season, we need parents that will help move all the pit equipment or props on and off the field, and help bring equipment to and from the band room and our football field.
Band Chaperones: As the band participates in competitions and performances throughout the year, chaperones are needed to accompany the groups. These events may vary in length of time. For competitions a chaperone may get free entry but these are limited and not guaranteed. Please be prepared to pay for a ticket to get into each event.
